Hon. Robert H. Barr

Bob Barr represented the 7th District of Georgia in the U. S. House of Representatives from 1995 to 2003, serving as a senior member of the Judiciary Committee. He also served as a member of the Long-Term Strategy Project for Preserving Security and Democratic Norms in the War on Terrorism, at the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University from 2003 to 2005. Bob Barr is a member of the National Rifle Association’s Board of Directors, writes a regular column for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, and is a Contributing Editor for The American Spectator. Appointed by President Reagan to serve as the United States Attorney for the Northern District of Georgia (1986-90), he was an official with the CIA (1971-78), and currently serves Of Counsel with the Law Offices of Edwin Marger, with a national and international practice in both civil and criminal law.

Donald J. Devine, Ph.D.

Don Devine is a Vice Chairman of the American Conservative Union and the editor of Conservative Battleline, a publication of the American Conservative Union Foundation. He has served as a member on the Board of Directors of both organizations for more than 20 years. A former director of the U.S. Office of Personnel Management, as well as a senior political consultant for the presidential campaigns of Bob Dole and Steve Forbes, Don Devine is the Grewcock Professor of American Values at Bellevue University. He is also a columnist, an adjunct scholar at the Heritage Foundation, and a political and management consultant. He is the author of seven books including “Reagan’s Terrible Swift Sword” and “In Defense of the West: American Values under Siege.”

David Franke

David Franke served on the editorial staffs of the conservative publications Human Events and National Review; played a key role in agitating for repeal of the draft and replacing it with a volunteer military; and was Senior Editor of Arlington House Publishers and the Conservative Book Club. Continuing a career in publishing, David Franke was the founding director of the LibertyPress and LibertyClassics book imprints. He is the author of nine books published in the U.S. and Europe, among them “Safe Places” and “The Torture Doctor.” His articles have appeared in many publications including The New York Times and he has appeared on numerous TV and radio shows across the nation.

Thomas Gale Moore, Ph.D.

Thomas Moore is a Senior Fellow at the Hoover Institution specializing in international trade and privatization. His current research focuses on environmental and regulatory issues and privatization in former communist countries. A former member of President Ronald Reagan’s Council of Economic Advisers from 1985 to 1989, he also served as a member of the President’s National Critical Materials Council and the President's National Commission on Superconductivity. Thomas Moore is the author of several books including “In Sickness or in Health: The Kyoto Protocol vs. Global Warming” and “Privatization Now or Else: The Impending Failure of Democracy and Freedom in Central Europe.”

William A. Niskanen, Ph.D.

William Niskanen has been Chairman of the Cato Institute since 1985, following service as a member and acting chairman of President Reagan’s Council of Economic Advisers. He has served as Director of Economics at the Ford Motor Company; Professor of Economics at the University of California; Director of Special Studies in the Office of the Secretary of Defense; and Director of the Program Analysis division at the Institute of Defense Analysis. William Niskanen’s most recent book is “After Enron: the Lessons for Public Policy.” He holds a B.A. from Harvard and a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Chicago. The University of Chicago recently honored him with a lifetime professional service award.

Edward A. Olsen, Ph.D.

Edward Olsen is a Professor of National Security Affairs at the Naval Postgraduate School, with a specialization in Asian Studies. Prior to coming to NPS, he taught International Relations at George Williams College, and served for five years as a Political Intelligence Analyst (Japan/Korea) with the U.S. State Department’s Bureau of Intelligence & Research (INR), Office of East Asian & Pacifc Affairs. Edward Olsen has authored eight books and six monographs; over one hundred journal articles; 64 book chapters; and 90 opinion-editorial pieces in U.S. and Asian media. His most recent books are “Korea, The Divided Nation” and “Hanmi Kwangae Ui Sae Jipyong/New Horizons of U.S./Korea Relations.”

Jane Orient, MD

A Clinical Lecturer in Medicine at the University of Arizona College of Medicine, and Professor of Clinical Medicine at the Oregon Institute of Science and Medicine, Dr. Orient edits the Doctors for Disaster Preparedness Newsletter and Civil Defense Perspectives. In addition, she is the Executive Director of the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons. Dr. Orient is the author of more than 100 scientific articles, book chapters, editorials, book reviews, lectures, and essays. Her most recent book is a textbook for medical students entitled “Sapira’s Art and Science of Bedside Diagnosis.”

Richard A. Viguerie

The Washington Post has called him “the Conservatives’ Voice of America,” and the Washington Times named him one of 13 “Conservatives of the Century.” Richard Viguerie started an advertising agency in 1965 with one employee. In 40 years of combining computer technology with political direct marketing techniques, he mailed more than two billion letters, making possible conservative think tanks, magazines, newsletters, and dozens of organizations and successful political campaigns. Washington Post political editor David Broder wrote that such tactics “may have tipped the entire political balance ... the story of that development is the story of one man — Richard Viguerie.” He has written for the New York Times, USA Today, and hundreds of other publications.

Richard J. Whalen

Richard Whalen, a former Time magazine contributing editor and member of the board of editors of Fortune magazine, is the author of the New York Times bestsellers “The Founding Father: The Story of Joseph P. Kennedy” and “Catch the Falling Flag: A Republican’s Challenge to His Party.” Richard Whalen served as a special assistant in Richard M. Nixon’s 1968 presidential campaign and as a senior consultant to Secretary of State William Rogers. A senior policy adviser to Ronald Reagan from 1975 through the 1980 presidential campaign, he was also an advisor to Vice President George H. W. Bush in his 1988 presidential campaign. He edited the reports of three presidential commissions: The Commission on an All-Volunteer Armed Force (1970); The Commission on Financial Structure and Regulation (1971); and The Commission on Federal Statistics (1971).
