Dear Fellow Friends of Barbara Olson,
The Pentagon Memorial will be dedicated on September 11 of this year, seven years after the terrorist attack that took the life of our treasured, remarkable friend. This year’s dedication of the Pentagon memorial on September 11 will be the first of the three national memorials to be completed and opened to the public. $17 million of the $22 million total construction cost has been raised so far. $5 million more is needed by September. We are looking to raise at least $150,000 by dedication day to underwrite The Pentagon Memorial Park will be open to the public and is located just outside the Pentagon near where Flight 77 crashed into the building. It will contain 184 memorial units. Each individual unit, uniquely placed in a collective field, will be dedicated to a casualty of that terrible attack on our country. Barbara’s memorial unit within the park, simple and elegant, will be composed of a lighted pool, a cantilevered bench and a place for the permanent inscription of Barbara’s name. Maple trees and grasses will grace the memorial. The park will be beautiful and will reflect the depth of memory and respect. It will honor Barbara and will be a living tribute to all those who tragically lost their lives. The Pentagon Memorial Fund, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization is offering several special opportunities for its supporters surrounding the dedication. These benefits will include speaking opportunities at the dedication, invitations to the dedication dinner and VIP reception, as well as print, web and video recognition at the Pentagon and at the Pentagon City Mall.
