Implosion at the Pentagon: When Reality Hits, What to Do?
Thirty years ago, it was "the Hollow force." Twenty years ago, it was the "great defense train wreck." Today, "implosion" captures a perfect storm that could wreak havoc on our military. Torn between planning for big or small wars and faced with an annual budget appetite of over $800 billion a year, the Pentagon could be in real trouble. Add the challenge of recruiting and finding the money for 92,000 additional ground forces and the next administration will not be able to avoid these challenges.
